Solving Whale Shark Mysteries in the Maldives

It’s difficult to understand how the largest fish in the world can swim under the radar, but there is still much to learn about the whale shark.  Marine biologists at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru are working with scientists to change that. The team has logged over 100 sharks and 450 sightings in its database and is studying the species’ migratory and foraging behaviour.  This knowledge is vital in building protection measures for the whale shark which was classified as a vulnerable species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
