It began as a small event with only 300 runners but 17 years later, the Run for Hope in Singapore (formerly organised as the Terry Fox Run) has grown into an annual community affair with close to 6,500 participants. Since 1993, Four Seasons Hotel Singapore and The Regent Singapore, A Four Seasons Hotel have partnered with the National Cancer Centre Singapore and the Singapore Cancer Society to host the annual event. Over the years, more than 80,000 runners have passed through the Botanic Gardens, Sentosa and East Coast Park, choosing between 4 or 10-kilometer routes. All proceeds from the Run go to the National Cancer Center Singapore and the Singapore Cancer Society to fund new and ongoing cancer research projects. Through this initiative, the hotels have helped raise almost $2.5 million USD for the cause.
